There Will Be a Draft in Artsakh: Beglaryan

There are no discussions, let alone decisions, regarding the cancellation of the draft in the Republic of Artsakh. This was stated by the State Minister of Artsakh, Artak Beglaryan, during the final press conference of 2021.

"At this moment, there is no decision to fully transition to contract military service. Just as before, there will also be a draft in the Republic of Artsakh now. When such a decision is made, it will be announced," he said.

Beglaryan noted that police forces will be involved in internal security and, if necessary, also in external security protection processes.

Earlier, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Artsakh, Vitaly Balasanyan, indirectly confirmed this information by stating that the armed forces of Artsakh will henceforth be formed on a contractual basis. The official refuted rumors about the dissolution of the army, adding that it is about reorganization.
