Azerbaijan is Unwilling to Communicate with International Mediators: Aliyev is Becoming Bolder Daily - Beglaryan
This is not the first time that the leader of Baku has mocked the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, declaring the page of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict closed. Responding to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's recent statements regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, State Minister of Artsakh Artak Beglaryan said this at the 2021 year-end press conference.
Aliyev specifically stated that the OSCE Minsk Group should not deal with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict since Azerbaijan has already resolved it. He emphasized that the Minsk Group will not engage in this issue because Azerbaijan will not allow it.
“Aliyev is becoming bolder daily due to the silence of the co-chairs. Not only does he mock, but he also at times humiliates the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. The co-chairs must adopt strict methods and visit the Republic of Artsakh, because their mandate is an international mandate, including to carry out their functions regarding the final resolution of the conflict,” emphasized Beglaryan.
According to the Artsakh State Minister, it is time for the OSCE Minsk Group to speak not from the position of a conciliator or a mediator resolving technical issues, but from the perspective of an arbitrator. The State Minister is convinced that the Minsk Group co-chairs understand very well that the conflict is not only unresolved, but has deepened further. Therefore, if Azerbaijan is unwilling to communicate with international mediators, it must accept that the actions and decisions of the international community regarding conflict resolution will be unilateral.
