We Support Opening Borders with Turkey Unconditionally: Arshakyan
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan announced today that Armenia is in favor of normalizing relations with Turkey and opening borders without preconditions. "That logic has not changed. The Armenian government still operates from that position, and we are in favor of opening borders and normalizing relations without preconditions; this is in the interest of Armenia and the Armenian people," he stated.
Regarding the first negotiations that took place between Ruben Rubinyan and the Turkish representative, the Deputy Speaker noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a statement describing the progress of the talks.
Rubinyan also announced that his meeting with the Turkish representative occurred at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' reception house. "You ask what we mean by a constructive atmosphere; we mean a constructive atmosphere. As a result of the meeting, the foreign ministries of Armenia, Turkey, and Russia issued statements; during that time, no yellow Zhiguli passed by," Rubinyan responded to the opposition's questions.
