Video Captures Assault on My Son and His Friend: Former Mayor of Urtsadzor
The former mayor of Urtsadzor, Rafik Andreasyan, has presented a video depicting the assault on his son and his friend to the court; however, the court did not take it into account. Andreasyan informed 24News about this development.
Yesterday, the police arrested Rafik Andreasyan after his son collided with a police vehicle while driving his "Vaz 2121" ("Niva"). Shamshayan.com reported that several citizens gathered at the scene stated: "We heard that an accident occurred, and then we saw the mayor's son come out of the Niva, attacking the police officers, asking, 'How many of you are there that have come to our village? Not enough, you want to take my dad too. Who allowed you to follow my father and how many of you are there to take him to the police department?"
According to sources, the police assaulted Andreasyan's son and his friend.
In addressing this incident, Andreasyan commented, "First of all, everything should be within the bounds of the law. Whether it's my son or someone else, if a crime has been committed, he should be punished. However, I reiterate that my son has never displayed such behavior and never will. I will hold a press conference to provide detailed information on what actually happened. All of this is part of a political agenda. That's all."
He added, "The assault on my son and his friend has been recorded; there is a video. I even presented this evidence to the court, which did not take it into consideration. I will hold a press conference and publish details."
It should be noted that Garik Sargsyan, the acting head of the enlarged community in Vedi, dismissed opposition mayors, including Rafik Andreasyan. Andreasyan considered Sargsyan's actions to be illegal.
Yesterday, the Investigative Committee released a statement asserting that on January 15, the son of the former leader of the Urtsadzor community, dissatisfied with his father being taken to the police station, drove his "Vaz 2121" into the oncoming traffic lane and collided with the front of a police "Toyota" vehicle. After exiting his vehicle, he threatened the police, failing to comply with their legal requests.
A case has been initiated, and charges have been brought against Rafik Andreasyan's son under Article 316, Part 1, and Article 185, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code. A petition has been presented to the court requesting the selection of detention as a measure of restraint, which has been granted.
