Video: Terrorism in Texas: Man Takes Hostages
A man who took hostages in a synagogue in Colleyville, Texas, released one man on Saturday. This was reported in a statement released by the city's police department, as noted by TASS.
The released man is unharmed and does not require medical attention. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents are continuing negotiations with the suspect, authorities stated. It is believed that three more hostages remain in the building, and more than six hours have passed since the hostage situation began.
ABC News earlier reported that four people had been taken hostage, including a rabbi. According to the broadcaster, the man who took the hostages claims to have an explosive device. A representative of the authorities, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the armed man claims to be the brother of Aafia Siddiqui, who has been convicted of terrorism and demands her release. Siddiqui is serving an 86-year sentence since 2010 for an attempted murder against an American soldier and is suspected of having connections to the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. Special services are trying to ascertain the identity of the suspect.
