IDBank Warns: Protect Your Personal Data
Recently, individuals have been contacting various people via the Facebook social network, promoting the Idram wallet. After establishing continuous correspondence, they demand personal information.
In particular, Anahit Chalikyan was contacted on Facebook by an unknown person using the username Astghik Grigoryan, who claimed to be an IDBank employee and informed her that she was supposedly advertising the Idram wallet. As a result, Anahit Chalikyan registered on the Idram&IDBank app, underwent identification, and became a Premium Plus customer (that is, properly identified user). Following this, at the request of Astghik Grigoryan and under constant correspondence instructions, she provided her personal data, thereby contributing to the fraud.
It should be noted that the scammer promised to transfer 4,000 AMD to Chalikyan's account as an incentive to register on the app. Anahit Chalikyan shared several pieces of information with the scammer, including her phone number, username, and PIN code, which the scammer used to change personal data in the app, including her phone number, and applied online to the bank to receive two loans totaling 1,680,000 AMD.
Another Facebook user, Angjela Kzhdryan, was contacted by a user named Armine Melikyan, who posed as an IDBank employee and repeated the offer to get a loan from the bank.
An IDBank representative told Auroranews that unfortunately, such cases are very common. People are personally sharing all their personal information with scammers.
Once again, we emphasize that all security norms are maintained in the Idram&IDBank system, and unfortunately, such cases arise from customers violating personal data protection rules.
The bank states:
- Once again, we emphasize that IDBank and Idram employees never ask customers for their app password or PIN code. This warning is even present in the window that opens after passing identification and becoming a premium plus customer, highlighted in red.
- Information about campaigns and promotions conducted by the bank or Idram is provided on the official websites and social media pages of both companies.
- Employees of the bank and Idram never contact customers using their personal usernames regarding any proposals related to the companies, especially through social media.
- It is impossible to obtain a loan through the Idram&IDBank app if you have not gone through proper identification and have not synced your accounts (scammers mainly operate based on the following mechanism: they urge their victim to complete all steps of proper identification in the system, only after which they obtain personal data from them and carry out transactions of their choice).
- Your phone is a carrier of your personal information, so under no circumstances should you share your phone with others (under the pretext of making a call or searching for information online).
We urge and ask you to not provide any personal data in exchange for any reward, incentive, or large winnings, including your app username, password, PIN code, identification code, loan approval code, security (3D secure) code, or any one-time code.
We inform you that IDBank and Idram aim to provide services that correspond to modern banking through the Idram&IDBank app, which will simplify customers' daily lives while maintaining proper security requirements.
Regarding the incident involving Anahit Chalikyan, we reiterate our concern about the situation arising from failing to adhere to information security rules. We regret the created situation and are hopeful that the law enforcement agencies will succeed in solving the crime in the shortest possible time.
Meanwhile, we inform that in the event of damage to the bank's business reputation, the bank will appeal to the court against individuals who have caused harm or committed defamation.
At the same time, we inform that the bank is ready to assist law enforcement authorities within the scope of its authority.
