Foreign Ministry Spokesperson on the Return of a New Group of Prisoners
One of our primary tasks is the prompt return of Armenian prisoners of war and civilian hostages. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Vahan Hunanyan, in an interview with A1+, responding to a question about whether the rumors circulating in the media regarding the imminent arrival of a new group of prisoners in Armenia are true.
“Consistent efforts are being made towards the speedy repatriation of our compatriots, and we utilize all formats and opportunities to raise and advance this issue in international forums,” said Hunanyan, urging the public to follow official announcements.
According to data from the Office of the Representative of the European Court of Human Rights in Armenia, around sixty Armenian prisoners are currently held in Azerbaijani prisons, while unofficial sources indicate that this number may reach 140. So far, 136 prisoners have returned to Armenia.
