What the Building Affected by Yesterday's Fire Looks Like
Auroranews has received a photo from citizens showing what the building affected by yesterday's major fire looks like.
It was recently reported that the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is taking relevant measures in connection with the criminal case initiated under Article 242, Part 2, and Article 243.1, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia regarding the car accident and subsequent fire that occurred on January 13, 2022, at around 18:00, on Artashesyan Street in Yerevan.
According to preliminary data, a 76-year-old man, whose right to drive was suspended, crashed his "Opel" vehicle into a "Vaz-2101" vehicle while driving on H. Hovsepian Street in Yerevan. After reaching the intersection of H. Hovsepian and Artashesyan streets, he veered off the roadway and collided with a gas pipeline located in front of one of the buildings. As a result, a fire broke out from the gas leak, igniting the "Opel" vehicle, the backseat of which was completely burned, and the 76-year-old driver, suffering injuries, was transported to a medical center.
The fire caused damage to the external parts of the buildings on Artashesyan Street.
During the investigation, inspections of the scene and the vehicles were conducted, and the driver's clothing was seized. Forensic examinations have been appointed. Necessary measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the incident as well as to identify the deceased person found in the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
