Peacekeeping Forces Demonstrated Their Viability to the Whole World, Lavrov

The situation in Kazakhstan fully demonstrated the relevance and effectiveness of the CSTO forces. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a press conference.

“I believe that the situation created in Kazakhstan, which prompted the president of Kazakhstan to appeal to his allies in accordance with the CSTO Charter, showed that the efforts made by the CSTO in recent years to form peacekeeping capabilities have been very effective and necessary. You know, as they say, if you want peace, prepare for war, but thank God, the matter did not come to war,” Lavrov said.

He added that, in his opinion, the peacekeeping forces demonstrated their viability to the whole world.

It should be noted that the CSTO peacekeeping units have completed their mission in Kazakhstan. On January 14, the peacekeeping units from Armenia, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan left Almaty and proceeded to their permanent deployment locations.
