Driver of Opel Collides with Gas Pipeline, Passenger Dies: Details on Major Accident
The driver of an Opel vehicle, 76-year-old Agabek Harutyunyan, has been transferred to the Burn Center after colliding with a gas pipeline on Artashisyan Street in the Shengavit administrative district. The passenger sitting in the back seat has died. This information was provided to NEWS.am by Vardan Tadevosyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee.
"At the intersection of Hovsepyan and Artashisyan streets, the Opel vehicle, driven by 76-year-old Agabek Harutyunyan, collided with a VAZ 2101 vehicle. Following the collision, the Opel struck the gas pipeline, leading to a fire. The driver has been taken to the Burn Center, while the passenger in the back seat, who is most likely a woman, has died," Tadevosyan noted.
Tadevosyan also reported that a criminal case has been initiated in relation to the incident. "The 76-year-old driver did not possess a driver's license. A criminal case has been opened under Article 242, Part 2, and Article 243, Part 1 of the Criminal Code," he said.
He added that the driver of the VAZ 2101 sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. It is worth mentioning that yesterday, January 13, an Opel Zafira collided with a gas pipeline adjacent to building 44/4 on Artashisyan Street, resulting in a gas leak and subsequent fire.
