Azerbaijan Suffered 18 Casualties in Vardenis on January 11, Mika Badalyan
“The incident on January 11 was the most serious since May 12 of last year when Azerbaijani armed forces invaded the territory of Armenia,” stated Mika Badalyan, leader of the 'Liberation' popular liberation movement, at the Hayeli press club.
According to him, everything began after Azerbaijani forces opened fire on an Armenian tractor that was clearing the snow from the roads between the positions. Following this, Armenian forces immediately responded, resulting in the destruction of an Azerbaijani serviceman.
Badalyan noted that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense immediately reported the casualty, despite usually concealing their losses, indicating that they would continue to conduct provocative actions and intensify shelling.
Emphasizing that the Azerbaijani side did not provide information about its losses after that single casualty, the speaker said, “According to my sources, Azerbaijani armed forces suffered 18 casualties in Vardenis on January 11.”
Mika Badalyan criticized Aliyev's recent statement in an interview claiming that the Armenian side had eight casualties as a blatant lie. He found it difficult to deny the Azerbaijani announcement that Suren Papikyan had proposed to cease fire, but emphasized that at the time of the clash, the Armenian side was not in a critical situation, whereas the Azerbaijani side faced heavy circumstances, as four of their positions and an ammunition depot were destroyed, proof of which he published on his Telegram channel.
Badalyan reported that while being at the site of the military clash, it was established that Azerbaijan had used drones, artillery, and after hitting the Armenian position with a Bayraktar, they also launched around 30 mortar attacks in that direction, indicating that they are serious about military confrontations.
