Artsakh's Parliamentary Factions Release Statement on Azerbaijan
Artsakh's parliamentary factions have issued a statement regarding the destructive and aggressive policies of Azerbaijan's political leadership. "Since the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, Azerbaijan has periodically created tense situations along the borders of the Republic of Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia, primarily targeting the peaceful population of the two Armenian republics. The increasing frequency of such provocations in recent days indicates that Azerbaijan has not abandoned the anti-Armenian policies it has pursued for decades, casting doubt on the sincerity of the statements occasionally made by the military-political leadership of that country regarding peace agendas in front of international organizations.
The Azerbaijani aggression unleashed against the people of Artsakh in the autumn of 2020, involving Turkey and international terrorists, coupled with mass violations of human rights, continues through different methods despite the peacekeeping efforts of the Russian Federation, one of the co-chairing countries of the Minsk Group. All of this is periodically exacerbated by the threats consistently spewed by the Azerbaijani leader, specifically casting doubt on the security of the corridor under the control of Russian peacekeepers.
The indifference and lack of adequate responses from the leadership of the Republic of Armenia, international organizations, and influential countries have become a wrong signal for the leader of the neighboring country, who, forgetting the commitments taken upon joining European authoritative structures, now attempts to limit the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group, consisting of three permanent members of the UN Security Council: the Russian Federation, the USA, and France.
We consider such an indifferent attitude towards the aforementioned authoritative body, which has committed to a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict since 1992 and has contributed to long-term regional stability, as unacceptable, and a blatant disregard for international law and the efforts of the international community.
Condemning the behavior of the Azerbaijani leadership, we call on the co-chairing countries of the Minsk Group to take practical steps to neutralize Azerbaijan's destructive policies and return the responsible parties to the framework of international law.
