Surik Papikyan Takes Action: New Appointments and Dismissals
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" has uncovered new details regarding the situation within the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. Minister Suren Papikyan continues the process of dismissals within the ministry. Recently, Artem Tonoyan, commander of the peacekeeping forces, was relieved of his duties.
It is reported that he has been offered a new position, while in his place, a young military officer, who previously worked in the Ministry of Defense's intelligence department, has been appointed. Notably, Artem Tonoyan was dismissed at a time when our peacekeeping forces were deployed to Kazakhstan as part of the CSTO peacekeeping mission.
During this mission, according to official data, the Armenian peacekeeping unit is expected to carry out functions related to the protection of strategically important buildings and infrastructure. It is difficult to ascertain how all these events are interconnected, but the news outlet learned that Suren Papikyan has decided to continue changes within the staff as well.
