27 Mothers Who Lost Soldiers Are Pregnant
In Armenia, of the mothers of soldiers and volunteers who died during the 44-day war and those who passed away due to war-related causes, two have already given birth and 27 women have become pregnant, according to Nune Pashayan, head of the Ministry of Health's Department of Maternal and Child Health Protection. She made this statement during a press conference regarding the state-supported "Overcoming Infertility Program."
“This component of the program was approved in February 2021, and although it has not yet been a full year, we have already seen good results. I am confident that the numbers will continue to change day by day. There is significant interest in this component of the program. About 200 beneficiaries have already applied. These mothers are as much heroes as their children. They have decided to redefine their lives and give birth to new life,” stated Nune Pashayan.
Edward Hambardzumyan, President of the Armenian Association of Reproductive Medicine, also noted that the processes in reproductive medicine take a long time, averaging 1.5 years. “This group of program beneficiaries requires a unique approach both medically and psychologically. It is a challenging phase because couples are in a stressful situation, they have health issues, and even after examinations, cancer has been discovered; however, we are overcoming these challenges,” said Edward Hambardzumyan.
