Armed Attack Reported on Residents in an Apartment
On January 10, at 1:00 PM, a citizen called the police operations center to report an armed attack on residents in an apartment on Demirchyan Street in Vanadzor. The alarm was transmitted to the Territorial Division of the Police. An operational-investigative group immediately headed to the scene.
At 1:15 PM, a report was received from the victim. According to the woman, around 11:00 AM that same day, a local resident entered their shop, demanded cigarettes, and without permission, took the cigarettes and other products. When the man attempted to leave the shop, the shopkeeper asked him to pay for the items. The man pulled out a knife from his pocket, struck the scale positioned on the counter, issued threats of murder along with insults, and left without making any payment.
Two hours after the incident, the man returned to the shop, continued to threaten with the knife in hand, and then noticed the shopkeeper’s brother in the yard, at which point he threatened him and launched an attack. To prevent the attack, the man fired into the air from a gas pistol that was registered in his name. The assailant then fled the scene.
Thanks to operational-search measures, the identity of the man was quickly established. Around 1:20 PM, the 35-year-old man was found on Demirchyan Street, arrested by the Territorial Division of the Police, and presented to the Lori Regional Investigative Department.
A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of robbery. The man has been detained, and measures are underway to locate the knife used in the crime. The gas pistol has been confiscated. An investigation is ongoing.
