Artsakh Firefighters Also Targeted by Azerbaijani Gunfire

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh has published photographs of a "UAZ" vehicle, burned as a result of Azerbaijani gunfire in the Red Market area, and reported that firefighters found themselves under fire while carrying out firefighting operations.

It is noted that around 14:30 today, Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire with various types of firearms in the direction of the communities of Karmir Shuka and Taghavard in the Martuni region.

"In yet another provocation targeting the peaceful population, a parked 'UAZ' vehicle was set on fire near the community kindergarten of K. Shuka," the announcement states.

According to reports, firefighters dispatched to the scene also came under fire while attempting to extinguish the blaze. Preliminary reports indicate no injuries from the approximately 10-minute-long gunfire.

During the investigation of the scene, bullets that penetrated the vehicle's trunk were discovered. Law enforcement agencies are currently working at the site.

At this time, the situation remains relatively stable, stated the police.

The Defense Army of the Republic of Artsakh also reported on the incident, mentioning that relevant information has been provided to the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces, and measures have been taken to return the Azerbaijani side to the ceasefire regime.

The ministry also denied reports from Azerbaijani media claiming that Defense Army units fired from the vehicle towards Azerbaijani positions.

As previously reported, on January 8, Azerbaijani armed forces fired shots in the direction of borders adjacent to the Verin Shorja community in the Gegharkunik province.
