"It’s pointless to say now that we warned, that we said" - Angela Elibegova

The Azerbaijani expert Angela Elibegova writes on her Facebook page: "On April 23, 2018, I came and submitted my application, walked down Bagramyan, and strolled through the center. It was a festive atmosphere everywhere, people celebrating with champagne, loud music, singing, and dancing. It was happiness, smiles, and mass enthusiasm in the streets.

Now many have forgotten and are asking why they didn't stop it, why they didn't apply force. I remember April 2018 very well, the atmosphere, the technologies, the sabotage. Unfortunately, I remember the whole picture. What terrified me the most were the friends I knew who lost their adequacy, value system, and human stance at some point. That aggressive hatred was coming like a stream, it was terrifying.

Would I have wanted force to be used against them and for them to be harmed? Definitely not. And it’s pointless to say now that we warned, that we said something. People in euphoria weren’t listening, they didn’t comprehend anyway.

Now the picture has changed also because in that dangerous environment many continued to speak with each other. Now we are incomparably more, and that is also a result of people having the courage to acknowledge their own mistakes. I respect those people. But I would have liked tanks to roll over those people. Definitely not."
