Tigran Abrahamyan on the Events in Kazakhstan

Member of the National Assembly’s "Honorary Have" faction, Tigran Abrahamyan, wrote on his Facebook page:

“The events taking place in Kazakhstan should be viewed in the broader context of regional security. So far, it is not entirely clear what the real underlying factors were for the escalation of such events in Kazakhstan—whether the socio-economic factor was one of the main causes, or if it was merely a spark factor. If there is external interference, who are the moderators of it, as the signals coming from different geopolitical centers are not yet revealing the genuine interests of the parties involved.

Although various websites and Telegram channels provide information about the ongoing events in Kazakhstan periodically, the developments do not yet present a complete picture in a deep sense.

The activation of CSTO mechanisms was quite prompt, which indicates that the situation created in Kazakhstan or its explosion posed a threat of much more severe consequences in the Eurasian region, regardless of the reasons behind it.

I repeat, many factors and actors are still not fully outlined, and the potential impact of this on the larger region has not been thoroughly calculated. However, it is evident that there are deep-seated hotbeds that will not be extinguished in a short time.”
