The Situation in Kazakhstan Poses a Threat of Severe Consequences, Says MP
The situation created in Kazakhstan, or its explosion, regardless of its causes, poses a threat of much more severe consequences in the Eurasian region. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, an MP from the ‘I Have Honor’ faction, on his Facebook page.
‘The events taking place in Kazakhstan should be viewed in the broad context of regional security. It is still not entirely clear what the real grounds were for the escalation of such events in Kazakhstan; whether the socio-economic factor was one of the main reasons or merely a trigger. If there is external influence, then who are the moderators of that influence, since signals coming from various geopolitical centers do not yet reveal the real interested parties,’ he wrote.
‘Despite periodic reports from various websites and Telegram channels regarding the events in Kazakhstan, the developments do not provide a complete picture in a deeper sense. The activation of the CSTO mechanisms was quite prompt, indicating that the situation created in Kazakhstan or its explosion, regardless of its causes, carried a threat of much more severe consequences for the Eurasian region. I reiterate that many factors and actors have yet to be fully delineated, and the potential impact on the larger region has not been fully calculated, but it is evident that there are underlying hotspots that will not be extinguished in a short time,’ he added.
