Husband Kidnaps Wife in Yerevan, Threatening to Kill Her
A husband has kidnapped his wife in Yerevan, threatening to kill her. The couple had been living separately after arguing over domestic issues.
On June 7, 2021, around 21:00, the man encountered his wife in the courtyard of a building on one of Yerevan's streets and suggested they talk in his car. After she refused, he resorted to violence, forcibly seating her in the back of the vehicle against her will.
The man then drove towards the vicinity of the Yerablur Military Pantheon and stopped the car. He retrieved a firearm from the trunk. Meanwhile, the woman attempted to exit the vehicle, but her husband threatened her with the gun, claiming he would kill her if she tried to leave the car.
A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident, with the man facing charges under Article 131, parts 2, clauses 2 and 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia for committing or threatening to commit kidnapping with the use of a weapon, posing a danger to life or health. His preventive measure was set as a signature, prohibiting him from leaving.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the prosecutor has confirmed the indictment, sending the case to court.
