Health Ministry Reveals COVID-19 Expenditure

The Ministry of Health of Armenia has disclosed that between January 1 and December 1, 2021, it spent a total of 21 billion 578 million 431 thousand 824 drams on measures related to the prevention, control, and treatment of the COVID-19 pandemic. A report detailing these expenditures has been published on the Ministry’s official website.

It is emphasized that the table includes only the expenses incurred by the Ministry of Health, as expenditures were also made by other governmental agencies.

Specifically, the maintenance costs for re-profiled medical centers amounted to 10,883,977,658 drams. Payments made to multi-profile medical centers (at contracted prices) totaled 2,602,441,347 drams. Compensation for healthcare workers in connection with COVID-19 reached 82,948,723 drams, while the supplemental payments given during the vaccination process amounted to 1,229,286,016 drams.

Costs for organizing meals for patients and medical staff totaled 763,752,705 drams. Ensuring the availability of protective equipment required 65,767,369 drams. Expenditures for medicines and consumables stood at 4,550,893,776 drams. The provision of medical equipment was valued at 743,483,081 drams. Renovations at medical centers necessitated 208,250,651 drams. Payments made for the needs of other state bodies amounted to 261,992,384 drams. The transportation of vaccines to Armenia incurred costs of 185,638,114 drams.

Expenditures related to the pandemic are ongoing, and the Ministry of Health is providing regular updates on these costs.
