Making Russian the Second State Language: Simonyan Outlines Conditions for Russia to Assist Kazakhstan

The head editor of Russian RT, Margarita Simonyan, has stated whether Russia should assist Kazakhstan in the current situation. She insists, “Of course, we must help. We must definitely help. But some conditions must be set:

1. Recognize Crimea
2. Restore Cyrillic
3. Make Russian the second state language, as it is in Kyrgyzstan
4. Leave Russian schools alone and not deceive the leadership...
5. Expel anti-Russian NGOs
6. Conduct a friendly domestic policy that excludes games with nationalists.”
