Azerbaijan Plans to Demolish Buildings Constructed During Armenian Authorities in Shushi
Demolition of buildings constructed during the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh is set to begin in Shushi, according to reports from haqqin.az and tert.am. Six five-story buildings, as well as the parliament building and other structures, are slated for demolition. Media sources indicate that a mosque will be constructed on the site of the parliament building.
It was previously reported that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree declaring 2022 as the year of Shushi. The Cabinet of Ministers has been tasked with developing and implementing a program of actions related to the 'Year of Shushi.'
It is noteworthy that on November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan reached an agreement regarding the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh. A statement was signed which stipulated that Azerbaijan would take control of seven regions of Artsakh, Shushi, and Hadrut, with the exception of one village from the regions of Askeran and Martuni, as well as the villages of Talish and Mataghis in the Martakert region.
