Stabbing Incident in Ejmiadzin: Citizen Arrested

The investigative department of the Armavir regional investigation committee has revealed a stabbing incident that occurred in the city of Ejmiadzin. This followed investigative and procedural measures taken based on the received report regarding the incident.

The report was received on January 3, 2022, from the "Vagharshapat" medical center, indicating that a resident of Ejmiadzin, born in 1993, had been transported for medical assistance due to stab wounds.

According to preliminary data, at approximately 23:15 on January 3, 2022, a dispute arose between a 28-year-old man and a 41-year-old man in the Aragats district of Ejmiadzin over domestic issues. During the altercation, the older man used a knife he had in his possession to intentionally inflict serious harm, striking the younger man in various parts of his body, causing life-threatening injuries, and then fled the scene.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Vagharshapat investigative division under part 1 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. On the same day, the 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of intentionally causing serious harm to his compatriot and was interrogated, providing a self-incriminating testimony.

During the pre-investigation stage, an examination of the crime scene was conducted with the participation of the suspect, who also indicated the location where he discarded the knife used in the crime. Samples were collected, and the clothing worn by the victim and the alleged offender at the time of the incident was seized. A forensic medical examination has been appointed to clarify significant facts relevant to the criminal case. The investigation is ongoing.
