Protests in Kazakhstan: Citizens Rally Against Price Increases
In Kazakhstan, protesters are not planning to leave even with the government promising to reduce gas prices. In the center of Aktobe, demonstrators are lighting a bonfire in front of the administration building and clearly intend to stay the night.
Spontaneous unrest and clashes with security forces are occurring in many other cities across Kazakhstan. Residents are now making new demands, calling for lower food prices and solutions to unemployment issues.
The government is also deploying military personnel, but protesters are blocking their movements. Reports indicate there are internet issues in the country, which is believed to be a deliberate action taken by the authorities.
