Early Elections for the Vedi Community Council to Take Place

The government of Armenia today made a decision to prematurely terminate the powers of the Vedi community council in the Ararat region and to schedule early council elections.

In accordance with Article 128 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Election Code and Article 69 of the Law on Local Self-Government, the government has decided to:

1. Terminate the powers of the Vedi community council in the Ararat region of the Republic of Armenia ahead of schedule.
2. Schedule early elections for the community council in the Vedi community of the Ararat region in accordance with the procedure established for conducting regular elections of local self-government bodies.
3. Request the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Armenia to set the date for the Vedi community council elections within one week after this decision comes into force.
4. This decision comes into effect the day after its official publication.
