A Wall Will Be Built on the Poland-Belarus Border
The Polish border guard has signed contracts with contractors to build a main barrier on the border with Belarus. This was stated by Maciej Wonsik, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of Poland.
In turn, Violeta Gozhkowskaya, the Deputy Commander of the Polish Border Guard, mentioned that the length of the barrier will be 186 kilometers. Construction work will take place simultaneously in four sections.
Steel will be used for the construction, with 22 gates planned to ensure possible migration of animals. Wonsik confirmed that the construction is expected to be completed by the end of June 2022.
Against the backdrop of the migration crisis, Poland has decided to have a protective structure on the border with Belarus. The wall will be five meters high, equipped with cameras for night and day vision, as well as motion sensors.
