2022 Started in a Quite Troubling Atmosphere Says Arman Abovyan

Former Member of Parliament Arman Abovyan has written: “2022 started in a quite troubling atmosphere. It concerns global issues that cannot be ignored, because if (God forbid) the situation escalates, it will hit us so hard that we won't be able to recover.

Look... for the first time in the last 40 years, a resolution has been adopted in the format of the USA, Russia, Great Britain, China, and France, reaffirming the unacceptability of nuclear (!!!!!!!!!!!!) war. Why did the need for such a serious statement arise right now? Let’s try to examine the current situation from a slightly different angle.

A possibility of military confrontation is actively maturing between Russia and the collective West in the direction of 'Ukraine.' Both the Russians and the Americans/Europeans assert that they will not compromise their positions on the conventional 'Ukrainian' front. Both openly state that they are ready for direct military confrontation if their vital interests are threatened. Biden (USA) and Zelensky (Ukraine) have already agreed that if the situation escalates (meaning there is a direct military clash between Russian and Ukrainian forces), the Americans will respond with a 'hard and irreversible' response to Russian aggression.

It is, of course, a big question who the real aggressor is, but it should be noted that the Ukrainians are supported by almost all NATO members (except Greece), and as a 'gift' to the Russians, they are also backed by Turkey, a long-time enemy of Russia and a new 'beloved partner.' Representatives of the Turkish Foreign Ministry have repeatedly stated that despite having good relations with the Russians, under the expected tension, the Turks will not leave the Ukrainians 'alone' (as witnessed by the Bayraktars declared in Donbas).

The Russians, in turn, have issued an ultimatum to the Americans, sharply demanding two things from them: 1- Not to include Ukraine and Georgia as full NATO members. 2- To remove medium-range nuclear missiles from the European states bordering Russia. It is noteworthy that the Russians do not regard these two conditions as subjects for discussion, but rather demand that they must be accepted by the Americans unconditionally.

The Russians and Americans are scheduled to meet on January 12-15 regarding this issue, but considering the rhetoric of both sides, the chances of 'closing issues amicably' are very hazy. There is also significant tension noted between China and the USA, this time regarding Taiwan. As is known, China considers the 'renegade island' (Taiwan) as an inseparable part of China, a view not supported by either the Taiwanese or their American patrons.

Chinese military aircraft regularly invade Taiwan's airspace, and special units of the Chinese Armed Forces are actively conducting amphibious exercises. The Chinese now openly state that they are no longer willing to tolerate the current situation. Meanwhile, the Americans declare that they will defend 'free Taiwan's territorial integrity' at all costs.

And discussing the 'eternal' military dangers between Iran and Israel is even unnecessary. Impressive negative tension is generated by Israel in this direction as well. As a reminder, all the aforementioned states (except for Iran) possess nuclear capabilities capable of destroying the earth 500 times over.

If we can imagine that even without the use of nuclear weapons, there is some major military clash along the lines of USA/Russia/China or Iran/Israel, then under the global realignment, our regional situation could completely 'blow up,' which could lead to very, very, very, very severe consequences for us.

As a reminder, the world stands on the threshold of a new 'Cuban crisis,' yet there are no significant changes regarding us, as the current government of Armenia continues its pro-Turkish and anti-Azerbaijani policy along its self-destructive 'path,' meaning they are leading us all toward a new war under the pretext of a 'peaceful era,' while cloaked in 'delineation-demarcation,' they are leading us toward the loss/fracturing of Armenia's sovereign territories and the legal delegitimization of the Republic of Artsakh according to the Azerbaijani scenario. In short, unfortunately, there are no changes in Armenia - while shouting 'There is a future,' they are 'running everything down.'

... to be continued.
