VIDEO: "You can't clean it all your life". Khachik, returned from captivity, talks about his livelihood, issues, and captivity

39-year-old Khachik Hakobyan still faces health issues a year after returning from Azerbaijani captivity, struggling to find stable employment to support his five minor children. This is reported by News.am.

Khachik is from the Avshar village in the Ararat region and was a contracted soldier when the war began. He went to the battlefield on October 23, participating in battles in the Vorotan (Kubatly) area. On October 25, he found himself surrounded, and about ten days later, he was wounded and captured by Azerbaijani forces.

During his captivity, Khachik was subjected to brutal beatings on a daily basis. The shrapnel injuries he sustained from being wounded twice during the war were compounded by new health issues resulting from the beatings in captivity, and he is now unable to fully raise his left arm.

On December 14, 2020, Khachik was repatriated along with other servicemen. Here, he was classified with a third-degree disability and currently receives a pension of 28,000 drams from the state. The Ministry of Defense has not yet confirmed his disability status, which means he will receive an additional 40,000 drams from the state once confirmed.

Khachik is doing his best to solve his family's livelihood issues independently, but he faces significant challenges related to both physical and mental health. He has been visiting a psychologist for a year, and there are still pieces of shrapnel lodged in various parts of his body, which complicate his mobility.
