Tesla Sets Record for Electric Vehicle Deliveries
Tesla has delivered a record number of vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2021, surpassing Wall Street analysts' expectations as the company continues to grapple with certain supply chain disruptions affecting other automakers, according to Business Insider.
The company produced 305,840 electric vehicles and delivered 308,600, exceeding the record set in the third quarter, according to the firm’s press release. Out of these, 296,850 were Model 3 and Model Y.
Total deliveries for the year amounted to 936,172 units, an 87% increase compared to the previous year. Wall Street analysts had earlier anticipated that the company would deliver 267,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter and 897,000 for the entire year, according to FactSet.
“Our delivery estimates should be considered somewhat conservative, as we consider a vehicle delivered only if it has been handed over to the customer and all paperwork is correctly processed,” Tesla’s report stated, noting that final figures may vary by 0.5% or more.
“Great work by the Tesla team around the world,” wrote Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Twitter on Sunday.
