Homeless Shelter Residents Stage Protest

Residents of the homeless shelter in Vardashen are staging a protest in front of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. The shelter has been closed since January 1, and according to a new directive, residents must relocate to the Victory neighborhood. However, they refuse to leave their current shelter in Vardashen.

On December 31, the Minister of Social Affairs, accompanied by police officers, visited the homeless shelter in Vardashen and demanded that around 93 residents vacate the premises.

The homeless individuals are calling for a meeting with the minister and the prime minister. “We appeal to the prime minister and the minister of social affairs to at least extend our organization’s contract for six months. After that, it will be summer, and we can address the situation,” said one of the protest participants.

Residents indicated that they only learned about this decision a month ago. “We do not need any of their conditions; we are satisfied with what we have, and we do not want to move,” one resident stated.
