About the Law Signed by Biden Concerning Turkey and Azerbaijan
International relations expert Suren Sargsyan made a post on Facebook addressing the thesis regarding the law signed by Biden that holds Turkey and Azerbaijan accountable.
“Yesterday, a thesis circulated all day claiming that Biden signed a law to hold Turkey and Azerbaijan accountable. What actually happened? Biden signed a law concerning national defense, which under Article 1302 requires the executive branch to submit a report to Congress within 180 days regarding the Armenian-Azerbaijani war. At the same time, this law emphasizes the necessity of implementing the agreements from November 9, 2020, and includes the phrasing 'return of prisoners of war.' The Congress must also be provided with information on the involvement of external forces. That’s all. This law does not provide for any sanctions or punitive actions. Unfortunately, our lobbyists could not manage to include provisions related to the 907th amendment in this law, as they were alone in the fight against the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem.
Note: We can utilize this law for propagandistic purposes if, of course, we have the desire to counter Turkish and Azerbaijani propaganda,” he wrote.
