Turkish Mayor Sues 2000 Individuals for Offensive Posts
The mayor of Bolu, Turkey, Tanju Özcan, has filed a lawsuit against 2000 users, accusing them of making offensive posts about him. The mayor's lawyer has begun searching social media platforms for derogatory remarks directed at the mayor. Approximately 2000 users have been identified as having made insulting comments.
Özcan, who represents the Republican People's Party (CHP), had previously suggested implementing higher utility rates for migrants, which led to accusations of racist attitudes and discrimination against him. He also called for increasing the registration fee for marriage tenfold for foreigners.
