On Pensions and Benefits
In today's summary press conference, the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of Armenia, Narek Mkrtchyan, spoke about the increase in pensions. “Naturally, we would like the pension increases to be much larger and to cover broader target groups, but every reform is based on the socio-economic situation of the country. However, considering all the issues, we have adopted an important principle that there must definitely be certain increases, which, although they may not introduce significant changes in people's lives, will somewhat change the social challenges in people's lives.
We have announced that we will raise the minimum pension, from 26,500 drams to 28,600 drams. In this regard, 15,700 beneficiaries will benefit from these increases,” said Mkrtchyan.
The minister also noted that the pension for the conscripts with disabilities will be increased as well. Depending on the disability group, the pension will increase by 3,000 drams.
“Relatively more has been increased for the benefits of persons recognized as disabled children. It will increase from 26,500 drams to 37,000 drams. Here we have about 83,000 beneficiaries,” said Mkrtchyan.
