New Record: The Largest Oyster Caught in France

A new record has been set in France, where the world's largest oyster has been caught off the coast of the Commune of Carantec. This information is reported by the TASS agency, citing local sources.

The oyster weighs 2230 grams, with dimensions of 26.5 cm in length, 13 cm in width, and 10 cm in thickness. It is several dozen grams heavier than the previous record holder, which was also discovered on the same beach.

The company that caught the giant, Les Huitres de Pen al Lann, estimates the oyster to be around 15 years old. A representative from the company reported that this year they were able to catch several specimens weighing over one kilogram.

The representative also indicated that the oyster is edible. It has been purchased by a local establishment for Christmas, although the sale price has not been disclosed.

Experts have noted that a standard knife designed for opening oysters will not suffice for this giant. They recommend using a hammer or simply cooking it in an oven, which is a safer option.
