I Have Been Silently Following the Discussions for 2 Days: Armen Muradyan
The Rector of Yerevan State Medical University, Armen Muradyan, wrote on his Facebook page: “Dear compatriots, I have been silently following for 2 days what is being discussed and the opinions expressed by certain people, including some critics I respect. Therefore, considering and valuing their perspective, I decided to make this post...
So, let me briefly present the reality. Yes, I have been a member of the Armenian delegation that went to Moscow at the initiative of Russia to meet with the Azerbaijani delegation. According to the organizer's decision, the coverage of the meeting was to be conducted by them.
Let me remind you that such meetings have been initiated in 2004, 2006, and 2008. Regarding the meeting, I can say the following: each of us presented our point of view, and the conversation unfolded only in the humanitarian sphere. I spoke as a doctor, discussing the Soldier's House created by the united Armenian people, talking about the nearly 7000 Armenian boys who found themselves in the Soldier’s House precisely because of the Azerbaijani side...
I must say it was very difficult to speak, heavy and responsible...
I also report that our delegation did not flinch for even a minute. Moreover, we clearly stated the following: “Wars do not end in victory...” Our agenda included at least one question – the return of our captives and obtaining accurate information about our boys’ health condition. For this purpose, we proposed sending a group of doctors to visit the detainees...
Moreover, the Armenian delegation raised all the inhumane actions our people have experienced during and after the wars, and we discussed the endangered cultural and historical wealth of our heritage...
The aim of the meeting was to separate humanitarian issues from political and military ones. The meeting was tense, but within the bounds of correctness.
P.S. For nearly a year, I have been suggesting to all my international partners to help our country obtain accurate information regarding the health condition of the captives. I would like to add that months ago, I personally reached out to the renowned Russian doctor, my senior friend Leonid Roshal, regarding this issue...
In conclusion, I, as a doctor, have done and will do everything possible and impossible to raise and resolve the health issues of our brothers in the prisons of Baku. I have publicly stated and reiterated that I am personally ready to be part of a group of doctors and go visit our captives. This meeting was an opportunity to achieve that goal, and we cannot afford to miss that opportunity...
