Black Ice, Fog, and Closed Roads: The Situation in the Republic

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

The road from the Amberd Fortress to Lake Kari in the Aragatsotn Province is closed. The Vardenyats Pass is difficult to traverse for trucks with trailers due to black ice (it is necessary to use snow chains).

In the Shirak Province, the Gyumri-Bavra road, as well as the Vayots Dzor Province roads Vardakankh-Khachik-Tatev and the segment of Sisian-Zanger, have areas with black ice. Fog is present in the Ashotq region of the Shirak Province.

Regarding the Lars passage, according to information from the Emergency Situations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles, except for trucks. Drivers are advised to travel only with winter tires.
