Young Man Wanted for Murder Found; Father Claimed Son Went Missing During 44-Day War
The officers of the Criminal Police Department for the fight against illegal migration and terrorism, after months of diverse operational-investigative activities, received information on December 24 about the hiding place of an individual wanted for a particularly serious crime. This information was reported by the Police.
As a result of quick verification of reliable data, the officers discovered and apprehended a 24-year-old man registered in Gyumri on Komitas Avenue in Yerevan. He had been wanted since September 2020 by the Mush Police Department of Gyumri for murder, with the preventive measure being detention.
The young man's father had contacted the relevant authorities during the 44-day war, claiming that his son had gone to Artsakh to participate in combat operations and had gone missing.
The young man’s details had been listed among the missing persons; however, due to the persistent actions of police officers, it has been confirmed that not only did his father provide inaccurate information to the relevant authorities, but the individual wanted for murder has also been brought into the realm of criminal liability.
The pre-investigation is ongoing.
