Water Prices Will Remain the Same for Socially Vulnerable Groups
During an online press conference, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue of potential increases in water tariffs starting next year. Pashinyan emphasized that the price of water will not change for socially vulnerable groups.
“We have analyzed the situation very seriously and have recorded certain gaps in the existing legal framework. We have determined that, yes, we can hold the water price steady until 2024, but it will rise significantly in 2024, leading to equity issues,” the Prime Minister stated.
He further noted, “There were certain parameters formed in the past that we later analyzed and realized that if we do not address this solution now, in 2024, the prices will rise so much that formally, we will remain within that framework de jure, but de facto, it will turn out that the prices haven’t increased until 2024, yet significantly increase thereafter.”
