Iran Closes Land Borders with Neighboring Countries, Including Armenia

Iran has closed its land borders with neighboring countries, including Armenia, due to the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. This was announced by Seyed Rouhollah Latifi, the official representative of Iran's Customs Service.

According to him, the closure is in accordance with the order of the national headquarters for combating the spread of coronavirus and the Ministry of Interior. "To prevent the spread of the Omicron variant, the land borders will be closed for passengers with neighboring countries for 15 days starting today," he stated.

The official noted that this pertains to restrictions related to the borders with Armenia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan.
