What Did Pashinyan and Aliyev Discuss in Brussels
We do not accept any corridor logic, and what we agreed upon or discussed regarding the railways in Brussels was a continuation of the talks that started in Sochi, where it was recorded that there will be full customs and border control that is acceptable to both us and Azerbaijan, and we agreed to launch the construction of the railway. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during an online press conference.
“Our principled position regarding the highways remains the same. However, in Brussels, both President Aliyev and I tried to delve into the details. We attempted to understand the real positions since the public stances are just the visible part of the iceberg, but there are reasons why we have expressed this or that position. During the discussions of the details, I saw an opportunity to reach certain solutions where our positions or the practical proposals made by Azerbaijan can find resolution.
After that meeting, I also saw certain possibilities, and we should try to leverage those opportunities to find a real compromise solution in this matter that does not cross our red lines, which I have already mentioned,” noted Pashinyan.
