“Ilham Aliyev has many qualities, and one could say this about all leaders. However, I must point out that it can sometimes be difficult to reach an agreement with him; this is often a complex process, particularly regarding key cooperation issues. But if you agree on something with him, you can be sure that those agreements will be fulfilled,” said Putin while discussing Aliyev in a film produced by Azerbaijan’s state television, dedicated to President Ilham Aliyev’s 60th birthday.

Putin noted in the film that “this is an extremely important trait and, indeed, a very important character trait for any person, but it is doubly important for someone engaged in politics.”

“I have known Aliyev for many years. The main goal of his life, in fact, as any decent person who holds such a high office, is to ensure that his country is in good shape and that his people feel good. So, first and foremost, I wish him success in achieving the goals of his life,” the Russian leader added.
