The Clash Between the Prosecutor’s Office and the Newly Established Anti-Corruption Committee Gains Momentum
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that the inter-agency clash between the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia and the newly established Anti-Corruption Committee is gaining momentum.
The matter is that even prosecutors have expressed opinions during internal discussions that the investigative body is sending criminal cases to the courts in a state that flatters the political authorities, so that they themselves face the facts as plaintiffs in court. Therefore, in any sensational case, if they see something wrong, they will return the criminal case.
Our information became clearer when we compared it with reality. Yesterday, the prosecutor supervising the criminal case initiated against former Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan sent the case back to the Anti-Corruption Committee. The same situation occurred with the bribery case of former Armavir Mayor Ruben Khlghatyan and the criminal case initiated regarding MP Haik Sargsyan's declaration.
However, it is noteworthy that the criminal case regarding the current officials, particularly concerning Haik Sargsyan's declaration, was closed with light hands by the Anti-Corruption Committee, whereas for the criminal cases involving former officials, everything is being done to ensure a judicial conclusion.
