Valodya Grigoryan Elected as Head of Parakar Community: 'Country to Live'

The 'Country to Live' party has issued a statement regarding the activities of the Parakar Community Council. The statement reads: 'The 'Country to Live' party garnered 49% of the vote in the Parakar council elections, securing 10 mandates. During the first council meeting held on December 17, the 'Country to Live' faction nominated Valodya Grigoryan as a candidate for the position of community head. The other council members did not form factions during the meeting and had no opportunity to nominate a candidate for community head, which is a clear requirement of Article 142.2 of the Electoral Code. Consequently, Valodya Grigoryan was voted in with 10 votes in favor and 0 against, according to Part 8 of Article 142.2 of the Electoral Code.'

Following this, the council proceeded to other agenda items and concluded its first meeting. After the meeting, attended by all council members, members from the other two parties violated the law by overstepping their authority and 'continued' the session, which led to a 'new vote' and the 'election' of a community head. In this regard, the 'Country to Live' party plans to appeal to law enforcement to initiate a criminal case against 11 council members for the improper transfer of official powers. Notably, the candidate from the ruling 'Civil Contract' party received 0 votes during this new 'election', despite having 6 members in the council, including himself. On December 23, an oath-taking ceremony for Valodya Grigoryan was legally held, after which the police barred Grigoryan and the other council members from entering the community administration building. Subsequently, citizens invited to the oath ceremony engaged in protests, resulting in the police opening the entrance to the community administration.

The opposing side has approached the court, contesting the legality of the council meeting, thus proving that the meeting organized after it was entirely illegal and they refuse to acknowledge their 'victory'. The 'Country to Live' party has been trying to discuss the situation with the governmental candidate David Minasian during the first council meeting, immediately after it, and even now, in hopes of reaching swift solutions and collectively focusing on developing the Parakar community. Unfortunately, there has been no response from David Minasian so far. We are ready to solidify our victory in court as well, but given that further work in such an environment will not have high efficiency, the 'Country to Live' party, although victorious in the council elections, is prepared to hold new elections for the Parakar community council, hoping for the prudence of the other two defeated parties on this matter.
