Returned Prisoners of War in Armenia Have Been Interviewed
On December 19, the prisoners of war returned to Armenia were interviewed, although no criminal case has been initiated. This was stated by Vardan Tadevosyan, the press secretary of the Investigative Committee, in an interview with 24News.
According to him, none of the prisoners have the status of accused; some had been captured from the military positions in Jermuk, while others were taken from the Ishkhanasar frontline due to the Azerbaijani aggression that occurred on November 16.
“They all come in as suspects for questioning. This is the accepted procedure, but what status they will receive afterwards will become clear after the questioning,” Tadevosyan noted.
It is recalled that the return of the prisoners took place through the mediation of Charles Michel, the President of the European Council. Earlier, on December 4, five of the ten prisoners returned through the mediation of the Russian Federation were charged, four of whom were detained by a court decision, while one was not. Concerning the latter, the Investigative Committee has submitted a cassation appeal.
They are accused under the third part of Article 365 of the Criminal Code for violating the rules of combat duty or military service, causing severe consequences.
