Mandatory Technical Inspection for Vehicles in Russia to be Removed
The State Duma has passed a law to eliminate the mandatory technical inspection for personal vehicles starting from 2022. The legislation exempts cars and motorcycles used exclusively for personal purposes from technical inspections.
Mandatory inspections will remain in place for taxis and vehicles used for passenger transport, as well as for personal vehicles utilized for business purposes.
It was previously reported that the law on the elimination of technical inspections for personal vehicles was included in the agenda for the Federation Council meeting on December 24. The chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, emphasized that it is important to adopt the bill concerning the removal of mandatory technical inspections in Russia by the end of the year.
He noted that this decision will affect approximately 50 million vehicles.
