No Surprises: Iva Marutyan on What’s Happening in the City Hall
While the Yerevan City Council is in the process of expressing no confidence in Mayor Hayk Marutyan, Hraparak.am managed to reach out to Marutyan's wife, Iva Marutyan.
When asked by the media whether they would stay in Armenia or leave the country if her husband were dismissed, the mayor's wife said, “Of course, we will definitely stay in Armenia; we have always lived here our whole lives.”
— Are you not concerned that this administration may initiate criminal cases against your husband, pursue him, and what will you do in that case?
— We are a very strong family and we are ready for anything; we are not surprised by anything, we have seen so much in our lives. Our spirits are very high, and we are honest people who know that in the end, justice prevails. At least, I have that belief. This means we are not afraid of anything.
— Was this process expected for you?
— My answer already implied that; if we are not surprised by anything, then it was probably expected as well.
