What to Expect This Year in Yerevan's Administrative Districts Besides the Christmas Tree
This year, Yerevan will welcome the New Year with modest decorations and without any festive events. As previously reported, the lights of the city’s main Christmas tree will also not be lit in a ceremonial manner. Instead, they will be turned on quietly on the evening of December 23.
Similarly, all of Yerevan's administrative districts will follow the same approach. Following a general discussion, it was decided to install only one Christmas tree in each district, avoiding lavish and eye-catching decorations and festive events.
Additionally, the head of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district, Davit Karapetyan, told “Haykakan Zaman” that, based on the collective discussion, the district leaders also decided to forgo corporate events. “We have made the same decision regarding decorations and festive activities. We will only install one main Christmas tree, without any extravagant decorations,” said Karapetyan.
This sentiment was echoed by Aram Danielyan, the head of the Arabkir administrative district. In a conversation with us, he mentioned that they have a collective decision to keep everything as modest and concise as possible this year. “We will have a Christmas tree, but nothing more—there will be no festive events or eye-catching decorations. The decision to erect a Christmas tree was made so that regardless of circumstances, our children do not remember this holiday or year with sadness,” pointed out Danielyan.
Sasha Katvalyan, the head of the Davtashen administrative district, stated that this year the main Christmas tree will be placed in Davtashen’s central park. A ceremonial opening is also planned, but there will be no other decorations. “On the opening day, December 23, at 17:30, there will also be a small festive event for children,” he noted.
Andranik Gasparyan, head of the Nubarashen administrative district, also confirmed the statements of the other district heads, emphasizing that besides the main Christmas tree, a small event for children is expected on December 23, featuring fairy-tale characters.
