3800 Women to be Posthumously Pardoned for Witchcraft in Scotland
Scotland will posthumously pardon 3800 women convicted of witchcraft. During the Middle Ages, such sentences were handed down for accusations of shapeshifting, witchcraft conspiracies, and meetings with the devil.
According to The Guardian, the authorities are granting pardons to those who were recognized as witches between 1563 and 1736, when the relevant laws were in effect in the country.
