Kurdish Youth Brutally Beaten by Racists in Turkey

In Ankara, the capital of Turkey, a Kurdish citizen named Volkan Temel was brutally attacked by a group of Turkish racists, according to Ermenihaber.am. The Kurdish youth was assaulted with butcher knives, daggers, and batons.

The assailants shouted, “Dirty Kurds, Türokuz will become your grave.” Türokuz is the name of the neighborhood in Ankara where the attack took place.

Volkan Temel's brother reported that their family had come to Ankara from the Şırnak province and that they have been repeatedly threatened by nationalist Turks over the last year.

As a result of the attack, Volkan Temel experienced respiratory issues and sustained facial injuries from the blows. The Kurdish family approached the police for help, but were advised to leave the area, as the most the authorities could do was impose administrative penalties on the attackers.
